In one word, visual extravaganza from Santosh Sivan. The movie has a good plot, and good direction. Acting wise, Jagathi Sreekumar was the best. Prithviraj, Prabhudeva, Genelia, Nithya etc did their part well.
Santhosh sivan has captured breath taking visuals for Urumi. The scene near the cave/waterfall is outstanding. Script-wise, there is a minor fault. Sankar Ramakrishnan stays in the surface and didn’t etch or brings out the necessary depth for the screenplay. Character development could have been better. Except this, Urumi deserves applause in all the departments.
Urumi is surely the beginning of a new era in malayalam cinema. Our cinema is going to find new markets like other south indian language films. Its a must watch in theater.

i watched the movie..u are right..gud movie..nice cinematography, editing is good as the colour grading is used in most of historic movies made nationally and internationally…..script is a bit lagging dialogues are over poetic, tough to understand…some steps took to add beauty ,like genelia’s costumes, actually made a little odd.an orthodox ancient muslim family gal wearing half nude dresses..n that too multicolour cotton patterns, they were not introduced till 18th century.
music is gud..songs and and background scores.some songs are wrongly placed and hindering the movie flow.art is nice and almost to the genuine period…there is no acting efforts which is commentable..jagathy got a good opportunity but he couldnt do much of sincerity to that role….his dubbing was poor..prabhudeva did a good effort..nithya menon did moderately well, vidya balan is just like showcase peice in the movie and taboo also share the same seat with her…
all together its a movie with national standards are maintained well in technical departments..and even if actor prithvi cant b much proud about urumi…he can b proud being the succedfull producer of this movie, for co ordinating all this acting and technical big names to this project..

Urumi is indeed a visual treat. Casting was great! I hope there will be more films like this in the future.
