Innathe Chintha Vishayam review

Innathe Chintha Vishayam tries to bring some general problems of married life onto the silver screen. Sathyan Anthicaud tries to tell a story of three families with the above mentioned theme. Muralikrishnan -Treesa (Mukesh & Sukanya), Noushad - Rehna (Ashokan & Muthumani) and Peethambaran - Prameela (Vijayaraghavan & Mohini) are the three couples whose married lives are in trouble. These three fmilies face three different problems. Gopa Kumar(Mohanlal) buys Muralikrishnan’s house but he couldn’t occupy the house since the owner’s wife Treesa is living there with her child. Gopa Kumar tries to re -unite the couples to get his newly bought house. His efforts for re-uniting the three couples form the rest of the story.

Sathyan’s theme is relevant on considering today’s society. But he fails to create a good script out of this theme. After his first scripting attempt in Rasathanthram, Sathyan had shown some improvement in Vinodayathra. But the script of Innathe Chintha vishayam is the worst one from him. His directional skills jois the sequences and give life for the situations. Gopakumar’s attempt for re-uniting his house owner’s family can be justified but Sathyan couldn’t find any reason why Gopakumar has decided to re-unite all the three couples. Audience might have thanked him for not bringing in more broke-up friends of the couples.

In performance wise, Mohanlal has nothing much to do in such a congested script. But he has succeeded in reminding us about his previous films with Sathyan. Meera Jamine’s Kamala comes in because of the necessity of a heroine. She had to help Gopakumar in his re-uniting project. The songs and majority of the scenes in this film are just rehashing of that of Sathyan’s previous films. The songs picturisation style is outdated, especially that of “kando kando”. Sathyan made his hero to sing and dance to make the gloomy heroine happy.

Sathyan films generally have a message for the society. He has succeeded in giving the message very effectively through his films like Manasinakkare, Vinodayathra etc. But here, he makes the hero to mouth all the messages and advice to the viewers. Especially the second half and climax scenes were like a seminar session. In short, Innathe Chintha Vishayam is a half baked cake, which doesn’t have a soul.

Rating 5/10.

Sathyan Anthikad disappointed me also. One broken family was enough, but he was greedy to do three stories in one and found it difficult to wind it up. Also meera Jasmin is no match for mohanlal, looks like dad and daughter.
